DIY Mud Cloth Accent Wall
I am so excited to show you how I made this DIY mud cloth accent wall!
I hope this inspires you!
Even though our spare bedroom is not currently being used for anything, I knew I wanted to do an accent wall in this space. This is mostly in part because it is the one room in our home with a solid rectangular wall (meaning there is no door, window or coved ceiling).
I had considered using wallpaper on this wall but did not want to spend a lot of money. I did, however, have a lot of leftover black paint from redoing our dressers in our master bedroom. So, I figured why not create my own design and accent wall.
First, I painted the whole room using the same color I had used in our master bedroom (Celestial Glow by Behr).
I then simply sketched out my design on a piece of graph paper with each square representing one square foot of the wall.
To get my design onto the wall I used some painter’s tape to section off each part of my sketch.
I then traced out each line onto the wall with pencil using a tape measure and level.
I just simply marked every 6 to 12 inches.
And then used another piece of tape to create a straight line.
Once my entire design was sketched onto the wall, I then used my leftover black paint (Madison Avenue by Behr) to trace over each line.
I then went back in with a smaller paint brush to define and straighten out my lines.
And once I was done I then used a Magic Eraser to get rid of any remaining pencil lines.
And even though there is nothing going into this room at the moment, I decided to add some black curtains to match the wall as well as a comfy rug.
That way the room feels a bit more complete.
I hope you enjoyed this DIY. If so, be sure to leave a comment below.
