Guest Room Makeover | Boho Decor
If you're looking for some Bohemian decor inspiration, look no further!
I am in love with the way our guest room looks now! It was definitely becoming a catch-all room and even though we are not hosting any guests anytime soon, I knew I wanted to turn it into a beautifully styled space. I also wanted to make it a place I could get ready in since there is no room in our bedroom to put my full length mirror.
Here’s a look at the way the room looked before.
The first thing I wanted to do was paint the room.
To save some money I chose to use the leftover paint from the accent wall in our master bedroom makeover (Graphic Charcoal by Behr) which I’m also a bit obsessed with currently.
Because this room is small I was able to do about two coats of paint using the half gallon I had left.
I then spray painted the curtain rods that were once in our master bedroom black. Again, swapping out items from other rooms to work with what we had.
Since the wall color is so dark I knew I wanted to add some white sheer curtains and white bedding to brighten up the room.
I also added these two runners on either side of the bed.
I went with the choice of runners over a larger rug, again to save money and because the bed would cover up most of it anyway.
I then put my full length mirror back in the corner of the room.
(This mirror I had actually bought from a garage sale a year ago for only $15.)
And this is where I planned to make my little getting ready corner.
I knew I wanted to use the other two shelves I had from Five Below but I wanted to be able to hang any of my extra jewelry, so I decided to attach these wooden beads.
I first stained them with the same mahogany stain and then hot glued them to each shelf.
I also hung these diagonally with the curve of the ceiling just like I had done in our master bedroom.
I ended up styling both shelves with a few decor items I already had around the house along with a couple of DIYs for some accessory storage.
The first DIY was this scrunchie holder.
For this project I used only supplies from the dollar store.
Supplies:
6” wooden dowel
5” round floral foam
White felt
Spackle
Paint
I first stained the wooden dowel with an early american stain.
I then measured to find the center of the foam and put the dowel through.
The foam was a bit large for the shelf, so I cut it down to size and then added a piece of felt to the bottom to give it a smoother surface.
I then covered the foam with Spackling and painted it a cream color to make it look like a ceramic piece.
I also made another tray for earrings out of some extra polymer clay and painted it to match my cactus ring holder.
I then hung up the large macrame wall hanging I had made over the bed.
Added this leather pouf.
Some throw pillows for the bed.
And this snake plant I had re-potted to add some greenery.
I also had these Aztec style hooks I had bought from TJ Maxx a couple of years ago that I knew would look great against the dark wall.
I knew I needed to add some type of artwork above this and on the other side of the bed, so I decided to use some computer paper and leftover wall paint to create my own unique pieces using a toilet paper roll.
And that completed our guest room makeover!
