Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I hope you find some inspiration to create!

When deciding on our Save-the-Date Cody and I wanted something fun and unique. So with our shared love of music we thought there was no better way than a mixed CD.

With us both having a love for several different genres it was a hard list to narrow down. But here's what we came up with and why...

1. I Found You - by Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes perform "I Found You" at WNRN in Charlottesville, Virginia. Please subscribe to our videos! Video by Rich Tarbell. http://www.richtarbell.com

I love, love, love the Alabama Shakes! This band has so many incredible songs. I highly recommend checking out there songs Gimme All Your Love, Future People and Shoegaze, just some of my favorites.

2. Coming Home - by Leon Bridges

"Coming Home" taken from Leon Bridges' debut album 'Coming Home' - available now.

Leon Bridges is another great artist! If you haven't heard of him before I recommend listening to his other hits like Better Man and River, it's one of several great songs on the Big Little Lies soundtrack.

3. September - by Earth, Wind & Fire

The Maurice White story is a MUST read for any true fan of the mighty EW&F: http://smarturl.it/MW_MyLifeEWF?IQid=ytd Click to subscribe: http://smarturl.it/SubscribeEWFVevo?I... Listen to Earth, Wind & Fire on Spotify: http://smarturl.it/EWFSpotify?IQid=yt... Album's from Earth, Wind & Fire: Open Our Eyes: Click here to buy: Amazon: http://smarturl.it/EWF_OYE_Amzn?IQid=...

"Do you remember the 21st night of September?..."

We picked this song not just because it is a great song from the 70s but because of the lyrics themselves. Cody and I started dating September 21st so of course a song that directly quotes that date was appropiate.

4. Maybe I'm Amazed - by Paul McCartney

Original Video

Cody picked this number but I equally love it. Plus, we had to have a song by at least one of the Beatles.

5. You've Got The Love - by Florence + the Machine

How Big How Blue How Beautiful: http://po.st/BKPHQ5 | Ceremonials: http://po.st/JUURi7 | Lungs: http://po.st/w6Ekan Official Store: http://po.st/FATMStore3 Join Florence online: http://www.facebook.com/florenceandthemachine http://www.twitter.com/flo_tweet http://www.instagram.com/Florence Follow Florence on Spotify: http://po.st/FlorenceSpotify Sign up for updates: http://www.florenceandthemachine.net Music video by Florence + The Machine performing You've Got the Love. (C) 2009 Island Records Ltd.

I also love Florence + the Machine! They are one of the first bands Cody and I bonded over and performed during our first New Year's Eve together. Their song Cosmic Love is one I considered first but the lyrics to You've Got The Love are much more accurate.

6. The Only One - by The Black Keys

The Black Keys - The Only One

The Black Keys are one of my favorites! Not only are they from Ohio but they have a great sound. There are several of their songs I love so picking one took some time.

7. You Are the Best Thing - by Ray LaMontagne

Baby Its been a long day, baby. Things aint going my way you know I need you here here by my side all of the time And Baby, the way you move me its crazy. its like, you see right through me, you make it easier, You please me and you dont even have to try.

Who doesn't like Ray LaMontagne?! He's got so many great songs and You Are the Best Thing is one several of our couple friends have danced to at their own weddings.

8. Higher and Higher - by Jackie Wilson

Uploaded by jakebucknall123 on 2011-08-11.

This song is a classic. Plus, it plays at the end of Ghostbusters 2! Hahaha

9. You Make My Dream - by Hall & Oates

"You Make My Dreams Come True," performed by Daryl Hall & John Oates from the album Voices.

I love Hall & Oates! This was a must have song and it's in The Wedding Singer, one of my favorite wedding movies!

10. Gangsta's Paradise - by Coolio

Enjoy the lyrics. Let us know any corrections in the comments!

Cody and I have a shared appreication of 90s Hip Hop and though it's not a love song he insisted our mix needed, as he calls it, "a musical palate cleanser." Hahaha

11. Come and Get Your Love - by Redbone

12. Beast of Burden - by The Rolling Stones

Another great song and you have to have some Marvin Gaye!

17. You Make Me Feel Like Dancing - by Leo Sayer

This song and Cody really make me feel like dancing. Hahaha

18. Baby You're My Light - Richard Hawley

Uploaded by Setanta Books on 2014-09-01.

This song was on a soundtrack Cody and I both bonded over when we first started dating. He suggested it be our first dance song just a couple years into our relationship and I wouldn't change it for the world.

19. Oh, Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison

"Oh, Pretty Woman" is a song, released in August 1964, which was a worldwide success for Roy Orbison. Recorded on the Monument Records label in Nashville, Tennessee, it was written by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees. The song spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

This song is one of Cody's picks. It's one of the many his Dad used to perform with his band Tony and the T-Birds.

20. You Give Me Love - by Idris Elba

Idris Elba - You Give Me Love (feat. Maverick Sabre) Out now: http://smarturl.it/miMandela 'mi Mandela' - a celebration of South African music inspired by Nelson Mandela Out now on 7wallace/Parlophone : http://smarturl.it/miMandela

If you don't know already Idris Elba is Cody's celebrity man crush and he's apparently a DJ on the side.

21. Thank You - Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats

Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats - Thank You Excellent band from North Carolina - USA, supporting Kings of Leon in Dublin in July.

Cody and I both enjoy Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats and think their song Thank You is a perfect way to thank our family and friends who mean the most to us.

We hope you enjoy our Save the Date selections as much as we enjoyed putting them together!
